In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how those examples shape your position.

India has over 22 recognized official national languages and about 1600 distinct languages. In a country as diverse as India it is not only onerous but also unfair to have ‘a national curriculum’. The prompt posits that a nation should require all its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college. In my opinion, this is an extreme suggestion and I will illustrate my view via three instances.

To begin, the prompt suggests that a nation should “require” a national curriculum. In my opinion, this insinuates that a nation should use one language as the medium of instruction throughout the country. Given countries like India have a myriad of languages it would be imprudent and partial to adopt a language for educational instruction. Adopting a language for communication will consequently lead to dissatisfaction among the denizens, calling for unrest within the country. The people in U.P. might want to advocate for Hindi while people in Gujarat might call for their endemic language Gujarati. If one language is imposed throughout India…
